About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who can help design and build our operational data architecture to enable automation across growth marketing, in-app messaging, and growth experimentation. Our data stack has been primarily centered around analytics and reporting (e.g., Fivetran, dbt, Prefect, BigQuery, Grafana); however, as we look to accelerate the development of operational workflows we have begun to consider building additional services to compliment / replace our existing Reverse ETL pipelines (e.g., hightouch, census).
Success in this role will require a combination of driving architectural decisions, understanding our product and use-cases, and hands on building. As the founding data engineer on our Product Data & Analytics team, we are primarily looking for someone that can iterate quickly, incorporate input from a cross-functional team, and contribute to our vision for operational data at Grafana.
Examples of projects you’ll work on
- Design and build our operational data architecture and its connections to downstream analytics, marketing, and product experiences
- Partner cross-functionally across Self-Serve (i.e. Growth PM/Eng, Growth Marketing & Ops, and PLG teams) to identify opportunities to empower our teams with data and automation
- Manage and improve data enrichment pipelines used for performing lead scoring and segmentation
- Collaborate with our Growth Engineering team to enable data driven product experiences (e.g., onboarding flows, in-app messaging, etc.)
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to define requirements for analytics tracking instrumentation and collection
- Assist in developing workflows for creating AI-generated Sales and Marketing messages
What you bring
- Have previously built real-time data processing and batch data pipelines using tooling such as Airflow, Spark, Kafka, RudderStack, S3, etc.
- Strong programming skills (some combination of Python, Java, Scala, Go)
- Highly motivated self-starter that is keen to make an impact and is unafraid of tackling large, complicated problems
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences, and maintain many of the essential cross-team and cross-functional relationships necessary for the team’s success
A plus if you have
- Knowledge about observability
- Previous experience with Grafana visualization, or a desire to invest the time to learn
In Canada, the Base compensation range for this role is CAD 165,000 - CAD 199,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable) and other benefits listed here
